US home prices rise to the highest level in over 2 years

... | Mar 28 @ 10:18

Tight housing supplies and strong demand from buyers amid low interest rates have contributed to the rise in house prices. The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller national home-price index climbed 5.9%, not seasonally adjusted, according to a monthly report published Tuesday. "Given the market’s current strength and the economy, the small increase in interest rates isn’t expected to dampen home buying. If we see three or four additional increases this year, rising mortgage rates could become concern. "The recent action by the Federal Reserve raising the target for the fed funds rate by a quarter percentage point is expected to add less than a quarter percentage point to mortgage rates in the near future," said S&P Dow Jones Indices' David Blitzer.

... | Mar 28 @ 10:08

March 27 (Reuters) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday approved Tesaro Inc's key drug, niraparib, for the treatment of recurrent ovarian cancer. Epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer affects the tissue covering the ovary or lining of the fallopian tube or abdominal wall. The drug also received orphan drug designation specifically for its use in treating recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer, the company said. Effective PARP inhibitors are sought after by drugmakers because of their potential to be used in combination with other types of cancer treatments to create new breakthroughs in treatments.
